The mission of this series is very straightforward. To promote the value of storytelling to a new generation with a world filled with conflict, nuance, and perspective. And to inspire the next generation of writers and artists to create their own stories and share their value with the world.
The story of the Half-Breed series begins in the mid-spring of 2020, where a very bored and knuckle-headed kid sat alone in his room in silence, listening to music as his imagination ran wild. That happened to be me, Elisha Cathey.
This was something I enjoyed to do, as there was very little to do during that time

But on that day, while listening to my music, I was blessed with an idea for a story. One in which a warrior would face great pain and hardship, and fight in a world where reality was unforgiving. A world in which the odds were stacked against him. And where actions, no matter how small, would have deadly consequences.
Being the knuckle-headed kid that I was (and still am to a degree), I really didn’t take this idea too seriously, as at the time it was just another random thought. But as time went on, the idea kept on popping up inside my head with every song that played, adding new lore to the already interesting story. Not wanting to forget this idea, I wrote a synopsis down on multiple pieces of paper, doing my best to explain my idea in a way that would make sense to anyone who would read it. And before he knew it, I had begun writing the cornerstone of my very first book, Half-Breed: Son of Tamerran // Book 1.
After three-and-a-half years of on and off writing (and lots of re-writing), I finally finished the first draft of my story during the late summer of 2023. It was a great achievement for me, seeing all that I went through. But it was only the first step of many in my pursuit of getting my story out into the world. With this, I submitted my manuscript to Christian Faith Publishing for their consideration, as I wanted to retain all the rights to my work and not have to sell it off to some larger and more traditional publisher. But after what felt like an eternity of waiting, I finally received the phone call I had been waiting for. My manuscript had been accepted, and with flying colors! And after signing the contract with the help of my father, I was now ready for the next stage of my book’s publication, THE ARTWORK!
The artwork would be the crown jewel of my book, as it would separate it from the rest of the competition, and attract the attention of new readers. For this, I went to a friend of mine named Kenydi Cross. A polite and kind young woman who I knew from our church, as I volunteered alongside her father bi-weekly on Saturdays.

After meeting in a cafeteria of a mall (very professional), I discussed the plans I had for my book while also showing her the concept drawings I made for the main character. She found what I had to say interesting. And after giving her a sample of the book to read over the next couple days, she agreed to my offer to help create the artwork for my book. SUCCESS!!! But knowing that she would need help with the artwork, I turned to the most reliable source of talent on the internet. Discord! (I am broke…)
I then made my way through the minefields of Discord, searching for an artist with the necessary talents I would need to properly illustrate my story in a spectacular way. And after many weeks of searching (it was terrifying), I came to a man of promise (who I actually knew many months prior). THE CRACKHEAD ARTIST, or better known as Benjamin Boswell.
Benjamin, like most artists on the internet, was a hyperactive personality with a sense of humor that reeked of Meme Culture (I share the same curse). And after viewing what he had posted over the past several months, I came to realize that he wasn’t a random fanfic amateur, but an actual artist with real skills and potential. And being the professional I am, I pinged him publicly before realizing that was rude and promptly moved our conversation to a private chat at his request (excellent start).
After this, we discussed my interest in his art, the idea of my book, and the possibility of him joining my team to create the artwork for it. He was skeptical, obviously, as I had nothing to my name, and nothing to prove that I was going to offer what I promised. Seeing that his concern was entirely fair, I agreed to create a contract for us (thx Dad) as well as Kenydi while he read over my manuscript.
This had me concerned at first, as I had no idea if what I created was something he would be interested in. But low and behold while half-way through my book, the Crackhead Artist himself found himself hooked by my book, and became willing, if not excited, to help create the artwork for the book. (TWO-FOR-TWO BABY!!!)
With that, the team was assembled. Kenydi being the foundationalist and screen toner, Benjamin being the crazy (to the point of OCD) details guy, and me, the guy who was crazy enough to start it all. (My God help us…)
